Back on the Podium After a Scorching Snetterton Weekend

Friday practice

On Friday, we headed into two 40-minute Free Practice sessions in scorching 28 degree heat.

In FP1, we finished P6, just 1.175 seconds off the pace. Considering I was running in clean air on older tyres, I was pretty pleased with that result.

FP2 was even tougher! It felt like someone had turned the heat up another notch. After 30 minutes, I called it a day as the tyres were completely cooked, the engine temperatures were climbing, and I was absolutely drenched in sweat. With several drivers switching to qualifying simulations towards the end of the session, we finished P8 overall.

Qualifying

For the first time ever, I was so glad that Qualifying was at 9.05am so the temperatues were slightly cooler! I had high hopes for the session, but unfortunatley due to a spin early on (driver error) I flat spotted all four tyres meaning I couldn't progress, therefore we qualified P8 for race 3 + P9 for race 1 respectively.

Race 1

Race one proved quite difficult as one of the only drivers without a new front tyre. The first lap especially was tough, but I managed to maintain position and break a gap to those behind. After a pretty lonely 20 minute race, I crossed the line in P7 with the fastest lap overall!

Race 2

Race Two was the one that could have delivered our first podium. I got an amazing start and by the end of lap one, I was running in P2 with P3 and P4 right on my heels.

Unfortunately, I lost out to Josh Selvadorai, dropping me to P3, before Race One's polesitter made a move on me under the bridge, pushing me back to P4. A few corners later, the Safety Car was deployed, and the race ultimately finished under caution.

Race 3

The race where I proved that patience is key. Starting from P7, I knew the opening lap would be crucial to stay with the front pack, and I did exactly that.

Throughout the race, I made a few moves but consciously chose to stay patient and wait for the right moment rather than force the issue too early. On the final lap, the six cars ahead began battling hard and tripping over each other, which allowed me to capitalise and jump from P7 to P3 at the final corner.

After the race, a penalty for one of the drivers ahead promoted me to P2, securing our first podium finish for the team and myself in 2026.
